Old 1928 AFGA ANSCO 1A Readyset Eagle Folding Camera w/ Original Remote deals Shutter - FREE Shipping!

In 1842, the company name started out as E.&H.T. Anthony and in 1908, merged with Scovill & Adams Company. Thus Ansco. In 1928 they merged with the German company to form Ansco/Afga. During WWII, the U.S. government seized all the company's American assets as enemy assets and sold them to American companies.

In 1939, the company changed its name to GAF, General Aniline & Film. The Afga and Ansco names were still used. In 1943, Afga was sold, but GAF continued to produce and sell Ansco camera until 1967.

This is the Afga-Ansco No. 1A Readyset Eagle folding camera. They were made from 1925-1928. This one was made in 1928, as the patent list states inside. It is a very rare model. It was made of metal with a genuine leather covering.

It has a button on the side that opens the camera to reveal the lens. Then, just pull the lens out. When done, just push the lens back in and it's ready to fold up. It uses size 116 film or Ansco D6 or D12, or as the sticker inside states, "Afga Plenachrome".

It was fitted with a timed and instantaneous fixed focus f/8 lens and an instantaneous 1/30 sec. leaf shutter. The original price in 1928, was only $7.50. That today, would equal $106.00.

The camera is in good condition, with minor patina. The shutter works, the deals red lens is good, the covering is worn a bit, mostly on the metal edges. The bellows are nice looking, but do have a couple of minor pin holes. The brilliant viewfinder is perfect. The paint on the edges of the bed is a bit chipped. The extra take up spool is present, the carry handle is a bit worn, the "Afga/Ansco" stand is brilliant, and all the lenses are reasonably clean, as you can see in one of my pictures.

This camera also comes with its original remote shutter. It works perfectly which is a very rare find. The shutter works with or without the remote clicker.
