Pocahontas, Iowa is a very small town in Iowa in the middle of farms. It is still in existence today and appears to be a charming and lovely place. This was my interpretation of a Library of Congress image of a young girl on her first day of school. The sun was in her eyes but she looked so happy. She had on a pretty dress and someone had curled her hair.
Painted on Aquabord panel with professional watercolor paint. Aquabord is a product made in the US that is a clay deals surface on a board. It is finished with acrylic spray. It does not need to be framed under glass like other watercolors. And, it can be hung without a frame. It also looks lovely sitting on a mantel or bookshelf.
This is not a print. If I have done my job, this painting should outlast trends and will be something you will have a long time.
