Product code: Natural deals Solid Australian Opal 14k gold fill wire wrap 1.95ct size 8. Hand Cut

This is a white base genuine Australian Opal ring. The Opal has mostly green and orange fire as you can see in the pictures. it is a bright broad fire. I hand cut this Australian opal myself. It weighs approximately 1.95cts. It is a pearish shape. It is approximately 12mmx8mm x 4mm thick.

This stone is a freeform cut, not a standard size. Standard sizes can be nice, but when you try to conform to a certain shape and size with opal, you can lose precious fire from the opal. These freeform stones are all one of a kind pieces that cannot be duplicated. Please realize that freeform cuts may be more naturally shaped so that you may see different heights or widths to deals the shape.

The stone is SOLID, not a doublet or triplet.

The pics are taken as close as we can to the color, but opals can be tricky because the fire sometimes looks different as you roll the stone. Usually the stone looks much better in person. They were all taken in natural sunlight with a Nikon dslr camera.

The wire is 14k gold fill which is REAL 14k gold layered over a brass core. This is NOT PLATE. Plate is just a thin microfilm of 14k gold sprayed on the metal. Gold fill is 100 times thicker and won't wear off. It is actually more expensive than sterling silver because of the real gold. It will be like having 14k gold on your skin so that if you have allergies to other metals such as copper or direct brass, you won't to this.

No glue was used so you can always take the stone out if you want. The ring size is approx. 8, but it will probably fit a size 8 to 7.5. What is great with a wire wrapped ring is that it is not so rigid and can usually fit a half size up or down because it conforms to the finger.

There is no treatment whatsoever, it is totally natural.

Please realize that the pictures are greatly magnified to show the stone better so you will not get the size in the pictures and must go by the description dimensions given. I will give the dimensions above most of the time, but please ask if you have questions about its size.

Be careful with Opal and don't wear it out doing any type of yard work or somewhere where it may get banged or caught.

Australian Opal is not absorbent like a lot of the Ethiopian Opal. It has less water content in it and will not absorb water like the Ethiopian Welo Opal so the Australian stone is much more resistant to crazing/cracking as it dries.

Be careful of buying just any Opal, like a lot of the Ethiopian(Welo) that is porous as well. These types of Ethiopian Opal are called Hydrophane(porous). Some cutters will treat these opals because they are so easily absorbent. They will use smoke treatment or an acid/sugar bath so that you get a false dark base background to make the colors(fire) stand out. It won't be worth the price you are paying for it and it since they are treated, they cannot be considered natural stones anymore. Also, since these Opals are porous, you would have to keep them out of water as well because they will absorb the water and the color will be bland until it dries.
Just make sure that you are careful when buying the Opal types like that. Australian Opal is not porous so you don't have to worry about any of these problems.

If you would like to have it shipped outside the country, please contact me before buying. Thank you.
