Deals Square jar with slip on legs

Small hand built cannister with sgraffito design. One of series of small square jars. I had a lot of fun with deals this small series. My primary technique is throwing but, a fractured wrist forced me to explore some new techniques. This particular jar has both glazed and unglazed stoneware. I brushed slip onto part of the jar and then scratched through the slip. This method is called sgraffito. After it was bisqued, I applied clear glaze to certain parts of the jar and a green glazed interior. The jar is approximately 4" wide and 8-3/4" tall.
