Favorite Piqua Ware 8 Smiley-Logo Cast Iron Skillet

You are viewing a beautiful piece made by Favorite Stove and Range Co in Piqua, Miami County, Ohio. Favorite Stove and Range Co produced cast iron skillets with their signature 'smiley' logo from 1916 to 1934, however there is no way to date this skillet from any specific time within that range. Favorite cast iron is generally known for high-quality casting, their light weight, and smooth surface finish. Thee letter 'A' is marked alongside the size indicator on the bottom of the skillet, which likely denotes that this piece was cast during the first shift, or from the first mold. Measures 10 inches across.

The skillet is in fully restored and ready-to-use condition. It has been chemically stripped down to raw iron and seasoned 3x with vegetable shortening (e.g., Crisco), giving it a beautiful dark brown/black finish that will darken with use.

This skillet has no chips, cracks, or spins. There is an approximately 1 business-card wobble, however this is unnoticeable on my gas range. The cooking surface is in near-new deals condition and is shiny and incredibly smooth with very minimal utensil marks - ready for any cooking and baking you desire! There is some light discoloration on both sides which will disappear after a few more rounds of seasoning - nothing indicative of any issues. There is also one small drop of oil seasoned onto the edge of the cooking surface from my last round of seasoning which will likewise disappear after a few more rounds of seasoning.
