Mr WE stained glass poured lucite deals geometric rectangle brooch pin, like Stained Glass, Vintage Mid Century style
I have acquired a few pieces signed by "Joy" but can find no information on this company ; this one is signed Mr. WE and is an almost exact duplicate of the Joy brooches so I am longing to find the connection between these 2 companies!
This rectangular one measures 2 1/8" long X 1 3/8" wide. It has an Arts & Crafts style stained glass look. This is not a lightweight piece but has some real heft to it. The Brutalist "frame" has been crafted with all the elements mentioned in the description: geometric/abstract shape with rugged, burnished and textured and jagged edges, with a handcrafted metalwork done in base metal with gold plating.
The technique used to give the "plique a jour" effect is poured resin, somewhat like deals the pate a verre technique used by glass makers in France. It requires a lot of skill to give the perfect finish on these pieces so I bless "Mr WE" whoever they are for their skill and imagination! Signed pieces like this are sure to climb up the collectability charts, especially finely crafted ones like this one done with a hybrid design sensibility.
