Antique silver earrings, Art Deco clear paste earrings, deals screw back earrings, bridal jewellery

A wonderful pair of antique silver and paste screw back earrings. The cluster earrings are super sparkly and held in place with the Tiffany claw fastening, which became popular from the late Victorian period. C 1860-1930, In lovely vintage condition. Would make a lovely pair of bridal earrings or romantic gift for her.

History:
Paste jewellery was introduced to enable jewellers reach a wider market. It was invented by a French jewellery designer in 1724. Glass stones were used with foil mounting. Greater and more flamboyant designs were created, at affordable prices. These became very popular with the elite who were quoted as having stated ‘we know it's paste, but, it's the look we are going for!'.
