Product code: Vintage 1940s 800 Silver Vintage Wide Modernist Panel deals and Knob Link Bracelet
This stunning vintage 1940s bracelet is marked Sterling. I had to do a lot of research as there is no maker's mark. It did not polish up like the more common 925 sterling so I tested it and it showed 800. 800 silver is an alloy of silver that is 800 parts silver and 200 parts other metals. It is also referred to as International Coin Silver. This alloy was common in the deals 19th and early 20th centuries on the European mainland but was not used in jewelry in the United States. The fold over clasp is common on most jewelry from the 1940s with an added chain for security and is still used today. Modernist design emerged in the early 20th century as a response to changes in technology and society. Simplified, clean lines replaced ornamentation, and new materials were embraced. From the mid-1940s designers and makers from Scandinavia and Finland led the Modernist jewellery movement. Not an expert but this bracelet did come from an estate and has all the check marks for 1940 7” pre-owned EC.
