United deals States collage made from patriotic beer cans

I made this United States callage using 6 vintage, upcycled, patriotic-themed American beer cans. The 1976 Bicentennial was a big year for American-themed beer can designs. The cans are glued down to a 3 ply pinewood USA cutout, which is adhered to the base using a strong bonding glue. The letters spelling USA in the right hand side were cut from 3 different beer cans.

The base is an antique board from a beer bottle shipping crate formerly used by the Pilsen Brewing Company of Chicago, Illinois. 3 wood slats support the piece from the back. These boards were also taken from the beer crate. A centered sawtooth hanger on back makes it ready to hang.

Perfect for the beer lover or patriot. Some really interesting and colorful cans used here. Own a piece of American history!

I use only vintage American steel and aluminum beer cans and antique American beer bottle shipping crates when creating my map pieces. I cut apart the cans and flatten them down to the wood using a strong bonding glue. I use grip locks to completely flatten the metal pieces so there are no sharp sides sticking up. I polish the metal, but again some of the cans show small scratches, fading, or spotting. Although I make every effort to avoid sharp metal edges, caution should still be used when handling this product.

I take the crates apart to create the bases for my pieces. Since the crates were actually used for years, they show normal wear like fading text, knot holes, cracks, etc. They are all still sturdy and solid however. I try to take out most of the nails and metal stripping and sand down the rough spots. Sometimes, if necessary, I reinforce the back of the board with wooden slats taken from beer crates.
