Product code: Guatemalan Huipil deals Embroidered Birds & Flowers Santiago Atitlan Tunic Wall Decor
I found this Guatemalan huipil at a garage sale, but the seller said she found it at a high-end estate sale in Fountain Hills, AZ years ago. She wasn't sure what it was, saying the original owners had it hanging on a wall. My research revealed that it is a huipil, worn usually by women in Latin America. I'm guessing the original owners stapled the tag on that says, "Santiago Atitlan," probably to document where they found it. I wish I deals could say definitively that it is hand-embroidered, but I'm not experienced enough with embroidery to know if it is or if it is machine-embroidered. I'm guessing by hand! It measures roughly 67 inches x 33 inches when laid flat. The hole for your head is only about 6 inches across. My big head would not fit through easily, so I didn't force it. It appears a bit sun-faded in some sections. Very minor signs of wear otherwise.
