HOLY TERROR: Andy Warhol Close Up, an insider's portrait by Bob Colacello. Published by Harper Collins deals, 1990. First Edition. Hardcover. In basically unused Mint condition. Bought in the sales bin in 1992 for $4.98, this book certainly was a bargain. A 514 page research project by a Warhol employee who was fascinated with the personality of Warhol and how Warhol rose so high in the art world while also repulsed by the manipulative way Warhol weighed on people and used people. There is so much detail in this book, which can be tendentious in the focus on stardom and celebrity. But isn't that what Warhol stood for? There is also a sentimental side to this book, recounting how Warhol often had the demeanor of a sad, fearful eccentric, and how he, the author/employee, would gravitate to Warhol's needs and wants because of this genuine melancholy. This is an unauthorized biography, Warhol did not cooperate. This big book was stored carefully. It's now a collectible. It's a little bit of art.
