This is a lovely vintage decorative hand painted Italian ceramic plate. It is depicting a historical city in Italy and the scene is of a piazza, otherwise known as a public square or marketplace.
The technique is impressionist and well executed by the artist. It is signed MR in the bottom right. The artist is unknown. However the talent in the hand painting is evident.
It is in the Laca Albisola style popular in Italy during the deals Mid 20th century or 1960's more specifically.
The blue/white combination in ceramics is highly collectible and this could also be reminiscent of the popular Delft ceramics which are quite popular.
It would look stunning mounted on a wall or set on a shelf. It is a square shape with soft edges and is slightly concave in it's shape.
This is one of two plates we have in our shop and we would certainly combine the two if the buyer is interested in acquiring both.
This plate measures 8 inches by 8 inches and as seen in the photograph of the rear, there are small holes at the top under the lip to allow for wall hanging if desired.
