The fabric is called "Hatasho-jofu" or "Omi-Chijimi",which is a traditional craft textile made in Aisho area, Shiga prefecture.
The region has a handwoven ramie textile tradition for over 600 years.
It has the unique wrinkle/crease texture on fabric surface created by hand massaging after weaving, which gives the dry effect and extra breathability, had been worn as summer kimono for centuries.
Handwoven Kasuri, or ikat ramie textile with very unique "konjac pasting" on all the yarns before weaving, which erase the itchy character of ramie material and giving the fabric very unique, soft and smooth texture.
