Italy - late 19th century Good overall condition. 7” in height. “The Boy with Thorn, Spinario or Fedele is a Hellenistic bronze statue, dated to around the 1st century B. C., which is on display at the Capitoline museums in Rome. It depicts a sitting boy withdrawing a thorn from the sole of his foot. It has had a great influence in the history of art and has been motif of multiple reproductions and inspiration for various artists. A Roman copy in marble can be admired in the Uffici in Florence, another one in marble deals at the Louvre Museum in Paris, and another one in the Pushkin Museum of Moscow. In the Museo del Prado in Madrid there is a copy from the 17th Century. I am unsure of the material that this is made of. It's 7” tall and weighs 1 pound 2 ounces. It's a hard plastic or ceramic.
