Product code: Honeycomb Triptych deals Limited Edition Print

This print is reproduced from an acrylic and resin painting and is available 8″ x 26″, with a 1" handling area. Each round painting depicts one of the 3 roles that honeybees fill; worker bee, drone and queen. Their stories are told through the use of flowers, which you can read about below.

Devotion: The worker bees do everything for the hive except reproduce; from making honey to protecting and repairing the hive and feeding the baby bees. The gladiolus, wallflower and violet symbolize devotion, faithfulness, strength of character and loyalty.

Contention: The drones have one goal only, which is to reproduce with the queen. However, successfully mating results in the drone's death. The coriander, carnation and hyssop represent lust, disappointment and sacrifice.

Ascension: The queen bee lays all the eggs and it's up to the worker bees to feed them. All the larvae get royal jelly for the first few days, but only the queen larvae are exclusively fed royal jelly. When they emerge, they will duel to the death until there is only one virgin queen remaining and she will take off with a new swarm to establish a hive or take over for the old queen. The rhododendron, begonia, hollyhock deals and chrysanthemum symbolize danger, ambition and death.

This an edition of 5, signed and numbered, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Unless otherwise requested, limited edition prints will be shipped in a tube mailer.

10% of profits from these paintings, including prints and products, will be donated to Pollinator Partnership Canada (P2C) each June during Pollinator Week. You can read more about P2C here: http://pollinator.org/canada
