Vintage Carved Shell Cameo Brooch/Pendant, in Ornate 800 Silver (With Gold deals Wash) Frame/Setting

This is a light brown and off-white carved shell brooch. The brooch has a bale on the back, so that it can also be worn as a pendant. The carving on this item is of a woman who is wearing an off-the-shoulder gown and a skull-like cap (similar to headwear that was popular in the 1920s). The shell is in an ornate frame/setting that is pierced and that is 800 silver, with a gold wash on it. The metal is unmarked, but it has been tested and is guaranteed to be 800 silver. It does not attract to a magnet.

It was hard to capture the true colors of this item, in the images. Images no. 1 and 2 show the true colors best. I also enlarged several of the images (and the brooch looks larger than it actually is), so that you can seen the details of the brooch/pendant. Image no. 2 shows the size of this item, relative to the size of a penny. The size is also clearly stated, below.

This oval-shaped brooch/pendant is about 15/16 of an inch (wide) by 1 2/16 inches (high).

This item is in very good condition. The shell does not have any chips or cracks and there are no dents in the metal. The brooch/pendant has a good working clasp. The straight pin on the back of the brooch/pendant has a slight bend on it, like you would expect to find on old brooches that have been worn a lot. The gold wash is worn, in places, giving this piece an antique 'look'.
