Shibori (Japanese tie-Dye) lamp. The earliest surviving examples of shibori-dyed cloth date back to the mid-8th century, but it has a very mid-century vibe. A great wedding gift or housewarming gift. Napalese Lokta paper over Japanese Kinwashi paper. Currently available in turquoise
Derived from the bark of Nepal's lokta (daphne) bush, Lokta is eco-friendly, “tree-free” paper. Dyes often extracted from the skins of natural fruits, spices nuts and vegetables such as pomegranates, saffron, walnuts and rhubarb, produce the gorgeous colors and soft tones that are unique to each sheet.
The frame is handmade using 1/4" square oak doweling, finished with tung oil.
The individual electrical components - socket, wire, switch and plug - are UL approved. Lamp has a candelabra socket, which can be used with bulbs from a 4w nightlight bulb - to a 40w candelabra bulb. For different effects, you may use colored C7 Christmas bulbs or flicker flame bulbs. LED bulbs are also available with a candelabra base, but may produce a colder color temperature.
