Vintage French, ornate silver plated butter dish, butter curling, fine dining table ware, with maker marks.

This small silver plated butter curler is very unusual as they are often described as butter dishes but really they are butter shapers. You push butter from the underside with the help of the base and then the butter should appear through the holes in pretty curls.

This butter curler is more ornate than others I have seen, in the form of an oyster shell, very pretty.

It is a very pretty decorative item in its own right and could be used simply to adorn the centre of your table for a special meal. Some people leave the butter curlers and a slab of butter on the table so guests can make their own curls..

In good vintage condition with light signs of use.

It has several stamps, Coquillor, Made in France. Also 6g for the amount of silver in the plate and the maker initials, J L.


This would be a great addition to your dinner table.
