A Kralik Martele vase with a iridescent mother of pearl vase with a wavy rim. This would have been made from about 1900-1910.

Condition: Stunning condition, especially given age, with no flaws at all.

Dimensions: Height of 9 inches or 24 cm, top has a width of 14 cm or 5.5 inches. Base has a width of 4inches or 10.5 cm.

Additional information: The Martele effect was achieved through hammering the glass which produced a shelled appearance. Although other Bohemian glasshouses used similar techniques, it was a particular speciality of Kralik.
Wilhelm Kralik Sohne can trace their beginnings to 1815. They have a complex history as they underwent changes of deals ownership and name. When Wilhelm Kralik died in 1877, the company was split into two glass factories: Wilhelm Kralik Sohne and Meyr's Neffe. Kralik were one of the biggest Bohemian glass producers and at their best rivalled Loetz for craftsmanship and artistry. They closed just prior to the Second World War.
