One of my larger paintings, a loose, expressive landscape painting of a sailboat leaving harbor. Inspired by my photos from a boat ride on the San Francisco bay, but I decided to go for something much greener than the Bay Area really allows for. This is a painting that has really grown on me, and I'm frustrated that the photo does not do justice to deals the colors, textures, and brush strokes. Those who follow my Instagram know I am a fan of Daniel Smith Primatek greens with their distinct granulation patterns--surprising enough, there are no primatek colors in this painting, though I managed to create a texture very similar to Jadeite Green by balancing my granulating colors against my staining, jewel tones. This was one of my larger paintings done for the June 2018 Direct Watercolor 30x30 challenge. Approx 12x16 on Arches 140 lb Cold press (100% cotton, acid free) with Daniel Smith and M Graham artist quality watercolors (top lightfastness). I really enjoyed doing this one, and hope it will find a good home!
