Product code: Vintage Floral Oil deals Painting Robert Cox (1934-2001)
Robert deals Cox (1934 - 2001) 8x10, 15x17 Featured in museums, galleries and private collections across the world and auctioned at Christies, Bonhams and Cheffins among others. Cox is known for his "Neo-Victorian" style and his expert use of the pallet knife in creating stylised flowers as evidenced in this example. While he was almost exclusively a floral still life painter, so much of his work reads "pink roses on a black background." The painting offered here is, to this observer, a more pleasing palatte with cool nature-inspired green. The vintage wood frame, although passable as it is, could use replacing or another coat of paint---it was painted silver somewhere along the way. Cox believed quality original art should be available to the general public. He kept his prices low, often to his own financial detriment. He became one of the most prolific painters of the 70s and 80s. The "Ms Ginny" on the back of the frame refers to his daughter who helped in the studio. Enjoy!.
