Hand Turned Spalted Maple deals Bowl

This large bowl was created from a single block of spalted maple. Spalting occurs when wood is left in the elements in a wet environment. Over time, the minerals in the water seep into the pores of the wood and deposit themselves there. This creates the dark lines at appear in the bowls surface.

There is a bit of a rim on this bowl making it easier to carry if it is full of something.

The finish on this bowl is a shellac based wood polish. This is generally considered to be food safe.

The bowl measures deals 10.25 inches in diameter and is 3.5 inches tall. It weighs in at over two pounds so will feel very solid when picked up.
