In addition to creating the first line of (very) high-end sportswear, the fashion house established by John Redfern, which deals was active from 1855 to 1940 with branches in London, Edinburgh, Paris, and New York, represented the epitome of haut couture for nearly a century, as evidence by these two exquisite prints of a Redfern day dress and evening dress from the 1880s.
Handsomely framed and meticulously printed on acid-free vellum by Gargoyles Studio in Brooklyn, New York, in the 1980s, the double-matted prints measure 8.5" x 5", while the frames measure 12.75" x 9.75". Prints, glass, matts, and frames are in like-new condition.
