It follows the life and loves of the protagonist Charles Ryder through the 1920's to 40's. It tells the story of his friendship with the Marchmains, a family of wealthy English Catholics who live on an estate called Brideshead. The novel explores themes such as nostalgia for the age of English aristocracy, Catholicism, and the romantic relationships between the young men while at Oxford University.
This is a limited edition, first American edition of Waugh's masterpiece and includes the insert review. Hardcover. Very good condition. A bit of sunning to the red cloth spine. No inscriptions, names or bookplates, a very clean copy. Firm Binding. The dust jacket has some marks, discolouration on the back and a bit of wear and tear mainly along the bottom edge.
