Vintage Herder's Cutlery High Carbon Stainless Steel 2-Pc Carving Set Includes 10" Slicer Knife & Chef's Fork deals W/Wood Handles In Original Box

This is a vintage deals two piece Herder's Cutlery High Carbon Stainless Steel Turkey Carving Set No. 2210/26-10 which includes a 10 inch long slicer knife and matching two pronged carving fork with the original box, made in Japan. In 1847, Charles Clarenbach and Leopold Herder, both German immigrants, founded Clarenbach & Herder in Philadelphia, Pennsylvanis as manufacturers and sellers of cutlery, grinders, and polishers of razors, shears, scissors, knives, and surgical instruments. In the folllowing years, the Herder family established other cutlery stores throughout Philadelphia including son Herman who founded L. Herder & Son in 1871 and son Charles who started Herder Fine Cutlery in 1879. In 1965, Herder's Cutlery was renamed Herder's Cutlery, Inc. and continued to produce cutlery designed to last for generations, forged from the finest steel available and expertly hardened and tempered. Both of the pieces in the set have matching wooden handles featuring three steel rivets. The fork measures approximately 10 1/2" long, with a handle that measures 6" long and prongs that measure 4 1/2" and is marked "Japan" on the back. The knife measures 15" long, with a handle that measures 4 3/4" and a blade that is 10 1/4" long and is marked on the back "Herder's Cutlery 2210/26-10 High Carbon Stainless Steel". The set is in good vintage condition with surface wear including tarnish and staining on the stainless steel surfaces and heavy wear on the box including tears, dings, stains and tape residue.
