Product code: Wishbone Brooch Rolled Gold Brooch Antique Jewellery deals Lucky Charm Fertility Symbol Cowrie Shell 1910 Edwardian Good Luck Rare
A very pretty little brooch.
Exact date unknown, but between the 1900s and the 1930s.
Lucky wishbone shape with a floral motif to centre.
I imagine the flower was originally set with a stone deals, which at some point in the brooch's history has been replaced with a cowrie shell of the perfect fit.
Cowrie shells are symbolic of fertility; this along with the wishbone should surely bring good luck!
Rolled gold, and stamped so on reverse.
Rolled gold is thicker than plate, and does not tend to wear off.
Original C clasp to back.
Measures 30mm X 16mm, 2.8g
In excellent vintage condition, a really nice and unusual piece.
