Early 19th Century Blue Transferware Pearlware Plate 'ASIA DISPLAY', Bourne Nixon & Co, Staffordshire England
Absolutely stunning pattern with a wide band on a slightly scalloped edge with gorgeous flowers mixed with scrolls. The central scene is of three ladies on a lake in a gondola-like boat with an Asia influenced building and flowers and trees about giving this a chinoiserie style. I love blue and white, this is one of my favorites. A very early Pattern called "Asia Display" by BN & Co. Bourne Nixon & Co. Circa 1828-30. A pearlware with a lighter feel than ironstone or stoneware.
The shades of blue are just delicate and welcoming. This would be an excellent plate for a wall grouping. It is equipped with a wall hanger which I will leave in place as it is.
Size: 10.25" Diameter
Condition: Overall a beauty suffering only from slight wear consistent with age such as some scuffs and scratches. There is a slight glaze imperfection with some very minor discoloration on it, barely noticeable. The rear has a small stain. No crazing, nor any chips. Normal specks in glaze and possible misplacement of transfer.
Stunning English Cottage decor.
