A very pretty antique brooch. Set in a white metal, which is most likely silver, but there are no hallmarks deals. The central stone is a faceted amethyst, either side there are branches and tiny green enamelled leaves. I thought that it may be a suffragette piece due to the amethyst and green but there is no white aside from the silver, white, metal.
There are a couple of issues that I have noted under the loupe. There is an area of fine lines, that are possibly stress lines due to a knock, to a section of the stone - please see the close up photos. At first I thought the stone had a chip out of it but under close inspection it looks whole but not perfectly circular so I think that this may have happened possibly during manufacture - maybe they damaged the stone when faceting it but used it anyway? Some tiny nibbles to the same side. One of the leaves has a tiny amount missing.
Even with the issues it still presents beautifully!
