Vintage New Golfer Needlepoint Kit, Circa 1990s


This is a fabulous needlepoint kit by “Needlepoint of View Gallery, Ltd." in Niwot, Colorado. I can't find anything about this company on an quick internet search, so it's probably out of business.

Found in a plastic packaging that had been taped up. I've not opened the bag, but I'm sure that all the contents are in excellent condition. I can't, however, vouch that there is sufficient wool to complete the project, but I would be very surprised if there isn't. This looks like a custom kit put together by this local shop.

The design shows a surprised male golfer in full swing. Perhaps he's just made a hole in one! He wears a golf cap, argyle sweater, vertically striped knicker bocker breeches, horizontally striped knee high socks. Also in the design is his golf bag and clubs, a wee blue bird watching from a nearby tree and a green with flag of the previous hole.

There is a border around the design. I think it would look wonderful stitched in a tartan pattern…. You know, golf was invented in Scotland!

The package label has hand written on it, “handpainted by gayle hamer”. Gayle has also signed the canvas.

The canvas is very large: 21 by 17 inches. Its edges are sewn with a white tape. The design measures 13-1/2 by 10-1/2 inches.

The canvas is mono with 14 HPI.

There isn't a list of contents, but looking at the back of the package, the kit appears to contain:

-Handpainted mono canvas
-DMC Wool Tapestry skeins, made in France, 25m ea.
-Skein of silver metal floss
-2 Needles
-Package of Yarn Bobbins, Bulky Knit

Unless otherwise stated, the listed item comes to me via Estate Sales or Charity Shops. I strive to give you accurate, complete descriptions. I will note any damage, smells, etc. that I find. Vintage items and clothing are pre-owned; so expect some wear/usage.

Also, I cannot know the history of the item and whether it has come in contact with pets, smoke, etc. However, my home is smoke-free and pet-free.

If you live in the Denver Metro area, and would like to pay in person and pickup, please convo me to set up a custom listing for you.

Etsy now requires items of $10 or more to be mailed with tracking. Therefore, even items such as cross stitch charts and pattern leaflets which could qualify for First Class letter mail for about $1.50 (no tracking) will need to be deals shipped with tracking (~$4). This isn't shop owners' requirements; it is Etsy's.

Whenever possible, I will combine shipping to save costs. I've guesstimated the shipping costs. Any overage of $1+ will be refunded after the parcel has been shipped.

If you are using an overseas shipping consolidator, your purchase is only guaranteed to reach the domestic US address provided in your order details. Your purchase is an acceptance of this condition.

Reuse is the most sincere form of recycling. Therefore, when available, you will receive your item in pre-used packaging. Please consider reusing again.
